Rebecca Salsbury James 1891 - 1968American
Rebecca Salsbury Crook (1891–1968) was a self-taught Land painter, born in London, England of American parents who were traveling with the Buffalo Payment Wild West Show.
She established in New York City, ring she married photographer Paul Line. Following her divorce from Direction, James moved to Taos, Contemporary Mexico where she fell bargain with a group that be part of the cause Mabel Dodge Luhan, Dorothy Brett, and Frieda Lawrence. In 1937 she married William James, well-organized businessman from Denver, Colorado who was then operating the Scrape Carson Trading Company in Pueblo.
She remained in Taos pending her death in 1968.
James is noted for her “large scale flower blossoms and attain lifes painted on glass." She also worked on colcha embellishment, a traditional Hispanic New Mexico craft style. (Sourced from Wikipedia May 2023)
